What is DHI Hair Transplant in Turkey?
DHI stands for “Direct Hair Implantation”, which translates to “direct implantation of hair” in French. It is above all an innovative implantation technique. A hair transplant procedure takes place in two main stages: extraction and implantation.
The FUE technique has literally revolutionized the field of hair restoration. Introduced in Turkey 20 years ago, it has completely replaced the FUT method. Unlike FUT, FUE avoids scarring in the donor area, whereas FUT leaves a permanent scar.
At TecniFUE International, only the FUE method is used for the extraction phase of the DHI hair transplant.

The Steps of a DHI Hair Transplant
Graft Extraction: What Are the Steps of the FUE Harvesting Process?
DHI Hair Transplant in Turkey has transformed the way patients approach hair restoration, combining innovation with expertise.
FUE involves extracting grafts one by one from the donor area at the back of the head, between the ears, using a motorized punch. This extraction is performed under local anesthesia.
The grafts, which can contain between 1 and 4 hairs, are harvested with a motorized punch under local anesthesia. Micro-incisions are made using a punch of the appropriate diameter based on the hair type, and then the grafts are gently removed with specialized forceps and stored in a solution to preserve their quality and viability.
FUE extraction typically takes between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the quality of the donor area, the number of grafts to be harvested, and the condition of the scalp.
The most important factor is to use the right tools to delicately extract the grafts without damaging the donor area.
Graft Implantation: The Steps of the DHI Method
The DHI method stands out from FUE Slit or FUE Sapphire techniques due to one key difference: it does not require prior micro-incisions.
This is made possible by the DHI Choi Implanter, also known as the DHI Choi Pen.
After the extraction phase, the grafts are individually loaded into the tip of the Choi Implanter and then implanted directly into the recipient sites, without the need to open channels or slits beforehand.
This is precisely why the technique is called “Direct Hair Implantation”: the extracted grafts are implanted directly into the recipient area without any prior preparation of channels.
What Is a Choi Implanter?
The Choi Implanter is a specialized tool used to implant hair grafts directly into the recipient area during a DHI hair transplant in Turkey.
It was invented in 1992 at Kyungpook National University in South Korea by Professor Choi.
The tool resembles a small pen, with a hollow needle at the tip and a push-button on top. The hollow tip allows the grafts to be loaded, while its fine structure makes it easier to penetrate the scalp. Once the graft is positioned in the tip, the needle is inserted into the scalp.
